North State Security Officers are an extra set of eyes and ears for our clients; a presence to deter criminal activity. As such, much of the work performed by our Security Officers on behalf of our clients occurs when the client is not at the location. Although not always the case, this is typically during night time hours, on weekends, and during holidays.

  1.     Be 18 years old or older.
  2.     Possess a guard card.
  3.     Submit your employment application to North State Security.

***How to acquire your guard card***
To acquire your guard card, you must complete:
  1.      At least the first training phase of a three phase training course
  2.      Get Live Scanned (Fingerprinted)
  3.      Submit an application to the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS)

You are required to complete 40 hours of training in three phases.
  • Phase 1 - (8 hours) must be completed prior to being issued a Guard Card / starting work as a security officer.
  • Phase 2 - (16 hours) must be completed within 30 days of the date your guard card was issued.
  • Phase 3 - (16 hours) must be completed within six months of the date your guard card was issued.
To complete the training, there are different options available to applicants. North State Security recommends completing it online through the Security Online LLC. website or at Rynearson's Safety Training class offered Nice Shot Redding Indoor Shooting Range.

You are required to get electronically fingerprinted (Live Scanned), which is forwarded to the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) who conduct a background check to make sure you legally qualify to carry a Guard Card. 
To complete this task,
  1. Go to the the BSIS website and print out the Live Scan form for security guard. Fill out only the third box from the top (where it starts by asking your name).
  2. Contact your local law enforcement Agency and make an appointment to be Live Scanned, or click here to find a list of agencies and businesses in your area that provide Live Scanning services.
